Apple ships 14 million iPods last quarter

The holidays arrived in 2005 and the most popular Apple product didn’t fit into any food group. Building on the explosion of the digital music market, Apple’s iTunes software has begun the evolution to digital video offering television episodes such as “Lost” and “Law and Order”. In order to make the video portable, Apple launched new iPods with video display capabilities. By keeping the price point the same as the non-video version it replaced, Apple was set for a great holiday quarter line-up. With estimates hovering around 80% of the digital player market share, look for Apple to expand both their available content via iTunes as well as at least one new version of their iPod phone.
