The Wall Street Journal has reported that eBay is in talks with European voice over internet player, Skype.
Skype, whose founders were originally involved in the creation of peer-to-peer software company Kazaa, has published its version of internet telephony whereby users of Skype can talk to each other for free over the internet.
eBay, the world's largest auction site, has been acquiring companies to broaden their suite of services. In addition, they are looking to find companies and services which can make buying products over the web easier and more efficient.
The price tag is rumored to be in the 2-3 billion dollar range. Skype has been in talks with other companies in the past, but nothing solid ever materialized. |
