Microsoft has released a beta of the next incarnation of Internet Explorer: IE7.
After all of the hype and accolades which have been generated by the release of the Firefox browser, Microsoft is preparing its answer. It will offer some similar features which Firefox debuted. The much heralded tabbed interface of Firefox has been added to IE7 along with substantial customization options.
Howerver, security is the primary focus of IE7. Microsoft has taken a lot of bad press for the need to update and patch IE6 frequently due to security issues. Improvements in IE7's ability to handle Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) more efficiently. From the user's point of view, a new option to delete browsing history as well as cookies, form information and entered passwords is available.
IE7 will be distributed to users in the form of a service pack. We just don't know exactly when yet. |
