There are situations where onsite computer support can be well complimented by remote access. One method Responsive Network Services uses is Windows XP’s Remote Desktop Connection. Remote support is not the only use for RDC, as it can be used for pcAnywhere-like remote control for any computing purpose. By default, the necessary software is loaded on Windows XP machines. Since only XP machines can be used as the host machine, that part is really straightforward. For client machines, Windows 95 or newer is required along with the RDC client software (again, it loaded by default on all Windows XP machines). If configured properly, RDC can be used to access all of the different Windows XP computers on a network. This can help our consultants perform maintenance on a number of machines without being in the building or having to get keys to unlock doors if the maintenance must be done after hours. Let your Responsive consultant know if you are interested in taking advantage of Windows XP and Remote Desktop Connection.
