Notebook computers have been gaining market share for years. However, the marketplace has a new entry that has already claimed 20% of sales: the netbook.
The netbook isn’t defined by a strict set of technical requirements, but rather it follows the concept of cheap, mobile web browsers with little storage and lower-tier processing capabilities.
Verizon Wireless and AT&T are offering subsidized netbook computers with multi-year contracts. In some markets, AT&T has lowered the netbook price to $50
with a two-year contract at either $40 or $60/month.
Most netbooks would struggle in a business environment as they aren’t intended to be desktop replacements. Instead, spend slightly more for business class notebooks that serve all of your firm’s computing needs.
